Residents of TAC "Promzhilbaza" in Ingushetia go on endless hunger strike

On Monday, the refugees from Chechnya, living in Ingushetia since the 1990s, went on an endless hunger strike demanding solution of their housing problems. In total, 21 persons have declared their intention to take part in the protest.

The venue of the hunger strike is cordoned off by the police, said a woman hunger-striker.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 11, 33 families of forced migrants from Chechnya, living in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) "Promzhilbaza", received certificates for purchase of housing. 13 other Chechen families were not put on the consolidated waiting list to receive housing certificates for TAC residents. The former citizens of the Chechen Republic expressed fear that after the closure of "Promzhilbaza" they will be left without a roof over their head.

The statements of Movlatkhan Djakhaeva, Sila Suleimanova, Eset Khadisova and Eiza Dikaeva about their intent to participate in the upcoming hunger strike was posted by Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization MASHR, in his blog run on the "Caucasian Knot".

According to Eset Khadisova, the hunger strike will last until the housing problem of Chechen refugees is solved.

Magomed Bariev, the head of the administration of the city of Karabulak, knows nothing about the impending hunger strike, because the protesters did not inform him.

"There is a consolidated list; and everyone who is on it, will receive a housing certificate as the queue moves on," said the official.
