Rally of residents of Khosta District of Sochi demand to stop building a high-rise
About 50 persons who took part in a protest action held in the Khosta District of Sochi demanded to stop building a 12-storey house in Yaltinskaya Street, as they believe that the construction is illegal.
The rally has adopted an appeal to Sergey Obukhov, a Deputy of the Russian State Duma asking him to bring up for the discussion among the State Duma MPs the issue of inadmissibility of granting by corrupt local officials of building permits, which violating the rights of local citizens to a healthy environment.
On March 28, 2012, D. G. Vasiliev and S. L. Vanesyan received a permit to build a house in Yaltinskaya Street. However, on April 2, 2012, the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and City Improvement of the Sochi City Administration revoked the permit because of "numerous citizens' complaints."
The developers challenged the decision of the executive power in the court; and on July 23, 2012, the Khosta District Court of Sochi upheld their motion, as the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the above court.
So far, there are no comments of the developers on the citizens' rally and the above statements.
