Barnov: voting for president of Georgia to take place on October 31
The presidential election in Georgia will be held on October 31 this year. The earlier announced date – October 27 – was wrong, said Andro Barnov, the head of the Georgian presidential administration.
Let us remind you that earlier, on Monday, Manana Mandjgaladze, the press speaker of the president of Georgia, said that the presidential election would be held on October 27 and that the respective decree was signed by Mikhail Saakashvili on July 1.
"Because of a technical error a wrong date was initially announced – October 27. The election will be held on October 31 – the last day of the month," Andro Barnov, the head of the presidential administration, told reporters at a briefing.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the pro-presidential party "United National Movement" has decided to elect its presidential candidate through primaries. His or her rival nominated by the ruling coalition "Georgian Dream" will be Georgiy Margvelashvily, the current Minister of Education.
