The organizer of a meeting in support of Syrian Cirkassians asks Public Prosecutor’s office to verify refusal of Mayor’s office of Maikop to authorize the action

Sergey Koblev, organizer of meetings and pickets in support Syrian Cirkassians in Maikop, appealed to Public Prosecutor’s office of Adygea and Ombudsman of the republic Anatoly Osokin asking to verify legality of refusal of Mayor’s office of the capital to authorize a meeting in support of Syrian Cirkassians.

The meeting was planned in the capital of Adygea on February, 1. In this way the organizers hoped to draw public attention to the situation of Cirkassian compatriots in Syria. However, Mayor’s office of Maikop refused to authorize the meeting.

“They refused referring to an incorrect form of our notification”, Sergey Koblev said to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

On January, 28, a new notification of holding the meeting was submitted to Mayor’s office of Maikop, Sergey Koblev reported.

“The meeting was planned on February, 8”, he added.

He explained that the goal of the meeting was a demand to assign an official status of compatriots to Syrian Cirkassians, open a “green corridor” to them.

“We have 400 quotas for Syrian Cirkassians in our republic while there are 7 thousand who wish to come back. Amendments to the Russian legislation are necessary to specify the status of foreign Cirkassians as compatriots exactly”, Koblev said.
