In Armenia, acquits in case of two soldiers' murder demand to punish ex-prosecutor

On Tuesday, the defence of the three soldiers, who went to court for protection of their honour and dignity, presented proofs of the guilt of Gagik Djangiryan, the former military prosecutor.

Let us remind you that on December 18, 2012, the court of general jurisdiction of the Shirak Region of Armenia acquitted three former soldiers, who figured in the murder case of two soldiers in a military unit of Nagorno-Karabakh. Razmik Sargsyan, Musa Serobyan and Araik Zalyan had been accused of killing in 2003 two of their colleagues – Roman Egiazaryan and Ovsep Mkrtumyan.

According to the ex-soldiers, after their acquittal Gagik Djangiryan made several statements to mass media that the court had made an unfair decision and that the three former soldiers were guilty of the death of their colleagues.

In the course of the court session, the plaintiffs presented, as evidence, the interview of Gagik Djangiryan to the weekly "Iravunk", as well as his video interview posted on the websites Aravot.am and Ilur.am.

Gagik Djangiryan had organized the above video interview at home in order to offend the acquitted soldiers, Araik Zalyan told the court. Vage Ovsepyan, Gagik Djangiryan's advocate, did not agree with it.

It is expected that the decision on the case will be made at the session to be held on July 16.
