Three suspected militants to face trial in Chechnya

Three residents of the Sunzha District of Chechnya will face trial on suspicion of plotting a terror act against law enforcers.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by law enforcement bodies of the republic that on July 1 the Chechnya's Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation of the criminal case against Makhmud Madaev, 22, Yusup Ektumaev, 20, and Kemran Karsamov, residents of the village of Assinovskaya, Sunzha District of Chechnya.

Relatives of Makhmud Madaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a few hours after the explosion that occurred in Assinovskaia, a group of armed law enforcers broke into their house. Without any explanations, they took Makhmud and his younger brother to the police station and beat them there, demanding to confess of triggering the explosion. One of policemen threatened to kill the younger Madaev, after which Makhmud agreed to take the blame for what happened.

Later, another Assinovskaya villager – Yusup Ektumaev – was detained. The power agents who searched his household said that they had found a pack with an explosive device there.

Relatives of the detainees believe that the reason for accusations was in the phone calls of the young men shortly before the incident. Speaking about the upcoming football match with their rivals, they said that "butchers" should come and they should be defeated.

The "Caucasian Knot" is monitoring the situation in Chechnya and runs the chronicle of explosions, special operations and kidnappings that happen or are held there.
