Residents of Kazbek District of Dagestan demand to change local power
Residents of the Kazbek District of Dagestan have held a rally to demand resignation of Abdul Makhachev, the head of the district administration, and his management, as well as to dissolve the local assembly of deputies as an ineffective representative body.
The protesters highlighted a burden of unsolved social and economic problems of the district and a misuse of 12 million roubles from the budget. The head of the district administration, while recognizing the existence of problems, called the accusations of residents ungrounded.
A notification about the rally arrived on June 30 to the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot". The action, as stated in the message, was held on June 26 in the Kazbek District.
The rally that took place in the district centre – the village of Dylym – was attended by more than 500 people, Abutalib Magomedov, a teacher of the Dylym Multi-Profile Lyceum and one of the protesters, said.
After the rally, the members of the organizing committee passed a resolution to be delivered to the acting head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov.
In his turn, Zikrula Emeev, the head of the administration of the Municipal Formation "Kazbek District", asserts that during inspections of the use of budget funds, no facts of embezzlement or misuse have been revealed. He has treated the allegations expressed against the district administration as groundless.
