Relatives of Ingush resident, deceased in Yekaterinburg penal colony, claim signs of beating on his body
Numerous bruises and wounds were found on the body of Tarkhan Kartoev, a resident of Ingushetia, who was sentenced on charges of undermining the "Neva-Express" Train and who died in Yekaterinburg penal colony in a week after his arrival to the penitentiary institution. This was stated by his relative Mukhazhir Kartoev.
Let us remind you that Tarkhan Kartoev died in the penal colony No. 2 in Yekaterinburg on June 29. The father of Tarkhan Kartoev claims that his son had never complained about his health.
When asked why Bilan Kartoev, the Tarkhan's brother, who received the body of the deceased man in the morgue, had not immediately claimed the signs of beatings, Mukhazhir Kartoev replied that it was done out of fear that then the relatives would not be allowed to take the body to Ingushetia and carry out an independent examination.
The relatives of Tarkhan Kartoev will insist on institution of a criminal investigation into the beating that led to his death. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Mukhazhir Kartoev.
Vyacheslav Bashkov, an activist of the Yekaterinburg movement against violence, a member of the Public Monitoring Commission (PMC) for the Sverdlovsk Region, intends to carry out the investigation into the death of Tarkhan Kartoev.
