Voting at election of Georgian President once again scheduled for October 27
In Georgia, after consultation with representatives of non-governmental organizations, the date of voting at the presidential election was postponed and scheduled for October 27. This was reported by Andro Barnov, the head of the Georgian presidential administration.
Let us remind you that on July 1, Manana Mandjgaladze, Presidential Spokesperson, announced that the election in Georgia will be held on October 27. However, on the same day, the information was denied by Andro Barnov, the head of the Georgian presidential administration, who reported that the election would be held on October 31.
The decision to postpone and schedule the election date again for October 27 was made tonight as a result of consultations with representatives of non-governmental organizations. This was stated by Andro Barnov, the head of the Georgian presidential administration, at the briefing held in Tbilisi.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 2, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili was addressed by 12 non-governmental organizations that asked to change the date of the presidential election and schedule voting for a day off.
The presidential election is to be scheduled for a day off to provide Georgian citizens residing abroad with opportunity to vote, the authors of the appeal believe.
