Evkurov resigns and appointed acting head of Ingushetia
Today, the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov asked the Russian president to dismiss him from his post before term. Putin agreed and appointed Evkurov the acting head of the republic till the election.
Let us remind you that according to the primaries, Evkurov has topped the list of three candidates from the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party to be recommended to the post of the head of Ingushetia.
At today's meeting with Putin Evkurov said that he would participate in the election of the head of Ingushetia, scheduled for September 8, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Putin thanked Evkurov for his work and said: "I ask you to perform the duties until the election of the head of the Republic of Ingushetia", the "Interfax" reports.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 8 the People's Assembly of Ingushetia refused from holding direct election of the leader in favour of the parliamentary procedure. Now, the Russian president will select three candidates for the post of head of the region out of the list of regional branches of the parliamentary parties. The winner will be defined in the course of the parliamentary vote.
