In Kabardino-Balkaria, detained Zeitun Kudaev released without charge
Zeitun Kudaev, a resident of Nalchik, who was detained by policemen on July 4, was released without any charges. This was reported by his advocate Mukhtar Mishaev.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that yesterday, on July 4, in Nalchik, policemen detained Zeitun Kudaev and brought him to the police station. During the first hours, he was not allowed to be visited by an advocate, and thus his relatives appealed to the Prosecutor's Office and human rights organizations. At night on July 5, the advocate met the prosecutor on duty, and after that he was allowed to visit the detainee.
According to the advocate's information, Zeitun Kudaev was detained on suspicion of involvement in the crime. Mukhtar Mishaev refused to specify the kind of crime. He has only noted that it was not a crime of an extremist nature.
According to the advocate's story, earlier, Zeitun Kudaev was twice brought to trial, and once he was acquitted. The concern of his family members was connected with his criminal past, Mukhtar Mishaev explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"They were anxious that he might face a new offense or be subjected to the physical force," the advocate has said. He has added that, according to his opinion, the intervention of the Prosecutor's Office and the media prevented those developments.
