Magomed Shamilov: three human rights defenders from Dagestan not put on list of participants of Human Rights Council's meeting
Three human rights defenders from Dagestan were not included in the list of participants of the visiting meeting of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia. This was declared by Magomed Shamilov, Chairman of the trade union of staff members of law enforcement bodies.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the visiting meeting of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation will be held in the capital of the ChechenRepublic on July 8-9. The meeting will be attended by Vladimir Lukin, Ombudsman in the Russian Federation, and Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary of Russian President in the NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District).
"Our organization was going to delegate Nelly Radjabova, Chairperson of 'Otechestvo' (Fatherland), Salikh Gadjiev, and me. Vladimir Lukin has sent to our government a formal letter of request to make a group of participants of the meeting. However, we found out that the republic's government failed to include us in the list of participants, although we had been officially invited," Magomed Shamilov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to his story, the human rights defenders attempted to report on the situation to Umupazil Omarova, Ombudsperson in Dagestan; however, the meeting with the Ombudsperson did not take place.
Let us remind you that in November 2012, Vladimir Putin has signed the decree on amendments to the Council for Civil society and Human Rights under the President of Russia. The new Council included 62 persons; however, no representative from Northern Caucasus was included in the Human Rights Council.
