In Dagestan, employee of HRC "Memorial" and foreign journalists detained
Today, Elena Denisenko, the representative of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" in Dagestan, and foreign journalists were detained at the entrance to the Dagestani village of Gimry. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a source in the Untsukul District.
A message reporting on the detention of Elena Denisenko, the representative of the HRC "Memorial" in Dagestan, was received by the SMS-service of the "Caucasian Knot".
According to the information of the source in the Untsukul District, Elena Denisenko was detained at the entry checkpoint to the village of Gimry at a time when she was accompanying several foreign journalists.
"She was detained by SOBR (Special Rapid Response Squad) agents who serve at the checkpoint. Presumably, the detainees were brought to the SOBR base in Shamilkala. Her detention was probably caused by the presence of foreign journalists who were not permitted to enter the area of the CTO (counterterrorist) regime," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by the source.
Till present, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Dagestan and the ROVD (District Interior Division) for the Untsukul District of Dagestan on the information about the detention of Elena Denisenko and foreign journalists.
