Sochi court rejects advocate's complaint about investigator's inaction in Demerchyan's case
In Sochi, the court has denied the complaint lodged by Alexander Boichenko, the advocate of the builder Mardiros Demerchyan, against inaction of the investigator, who is considering the case of his client's beating and torture. The lawyer has appealed against the denial at the higher court – the Krasnodar Territorial Court.
Let us remind you that on June 12 Mardiros Demerchyan was detained by policemen. Later, in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" he told that he had been tortured by the police.
On June 28, Alexander Boichenko, the advocate for Mardiros Demerchyan, filed a complaint against the inaction of the investigator, who is considering the incident.
On July 1, Judge Pechonkin, without conducting any inquiry into the complaint, refused to accept the advocate's complaint.
"Demerchyan did not address the investigator A. Semenets on acquaintance with the materials of the case; that is why the complaint is dismissed," said the judge.
On July 5, Boichenko lodged a complaint to the territorial court against Judge Pechonkin's ruling. "Should this court reject it, we'll complain to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg," said the lawyer.
The date, when the above judge's ruling will be considered by the territorial court, has not been appointed yet, the court has reported.
