Krymsk authorities ban march in memory of flood victims
At night on July 7, mourning actions are planned in the city of Krymsk, Krasnodar Territory, right one year after the devastating flood that officially claimed 153 human lives. The district administration has not allowed holding a night march in memory of the victims; however, civil activists are going to hold other memorial actions, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
The flood in the KrasnodarTerritory that mostly affected the Krymsk District happened on July 6-7, 2012. As a result of the disaster, according to the administration of the Krasnodar Territory, 172 people were lost.
Alevtina Ustimenko, a member of the initiative group of Krymsk residents, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that locals had planned to hold a candlelight march from the place from where the high water advanced to the park close to the district administration and the monument, opened one year after the tragedy. But the authorities would not sanction the action, claiming that they cannot ensure safety, as the local police will be busy at the opening of the monument.
The woman also said that on June 21 she brought a letter to the reception office of Russian president signed by 300 Krymsk residents, who failed to receive compensations for their lost cars, and 11 individual complaints on the issue of compensations.
Meanwhile, according to the local administration, all 7900 residents, who had applied for social benefits on making repairs, received them.
