In Azerbaijan, activist of "Free Youth" transferred to SIZO's medical unit
In Azerbaijan, health state of Ilkin Rustamzade, an arrested member of the civil movement "Free Youth", has deteriorated. Today, he was brought to the sanitary and medical unit of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) because of his illness.
Let us remind you that on May 17, Ilkin Rustamzade, an activist of the civil movement "Free Youth", was arrested for two months in Azerbaijan by the decision of the Nasimi District Court. Ilkin Rustamzade is suspected of organizing a dance flash mob of Harlem Shake and posting a video on "YouTube".
Today, a young man with a high fever, of which he is suffering since the middle of last week, was brought to the sanitary and medical unit of the SIZO. Doctors have diagnosed the appearance of skin cyst (non-cancerous swelling of the skin) on the back of Ilkin Rustamzade. This was reported by advocate Nemat Kerimli. According to his version, the young man is in need of surgery to be preferably held in a civil hospital.
Ilkin Rustamzade is under the medical supervision, and, if necessary, he will be provided with medical assistance. This was reported by the representative of the Public Relations Department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice. He has noted that surgeries in civilian clinics are conducted in exceptional cases only, in cases when a medical unit of the Ministry of Justice has no appropriate conditions to conduct a surgery.
Meanwhile, the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) issued a statement in which it treated failure to provide medical assistance to Ilkin Rustamzade "as inhuman treatment".
