Krasnodar: about 200 people hold "silent flash mob" in support of Alexei Navalny
A flash mob in support of Alexei Navalny, a candidate for the Mayor of Moscow, who was sentenced on July 18 to 5 years in prison on charges of embezzlement of the property of the state-owned company "Kirovles", was held in Krasnodar with participation of about 200 people.
The action, which the organizers called as a "silent flash mob" started at 7:00 p.m. in Theatre Square of Krasnodar in front of the Mayoralty and the Drama Theatre. The participants, holding each other's hands formed a circle and began applauding and chanting "Freedom!" and "One for all and all for one!" Then, some of them made a column and went to the building of the city administration.
Most of the audience who came to support Alexei Navalny were members of youth associations and users of social networks; however, there were elder people among them. Some of them brought their whole families to the protest, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Fifty minutes later the action was over. All the time it was supervised by the police and local administration officials. No incidents were recorded, but at the end of the action Alexander Papanov, the spokesman of the city police, warned the audience that should they have continued their flash mob, the police would have been forced to detain the participants and draw up protocols on administrative offences.
