In Volgograd, participants of gathering in support of Alexei Navalny call his verdict unfair
On July 18, in Volgograd, activists held a rally in support of Alexei Navalny, a candidate for the position of Mayor of Moscow, who was sentenced to five years of imprisonment for organizing the embezzlement of the property belonging to the state enterprise "Kirovles". The participants of the action called the court's decision unfair.
The action was attended by about 50 persons, including activists of the opposition parties and movements: "Yabloko", "RPR-PARNAS", "Left-Wing Front", "Russians", "People's Militia named after Minin and Pozharsky".
Nikolai Belikov, a member of the "Yabloko" Party, who attended the action, expressed his indignation about "unfair, ordered court verdict" to Alexei Navalny.
"People express different attitudes towards Alexei Navalny. However, we cannot deny that he has courage and he is able to write and call things by their right names," Nikolai Belikov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Nikolai Belikov called the very action a gathering and a "meeting of friends". "It does not fall under the law on meetings and demonstrations," he has noted.
