KBR: young Circassians from many countries conquer Mount Elbrus
A group of young Circassians representing Diasporas from different countries have climbed the western peak of Mount Elbrus, at the altitude of 5642 meters above sea level.
They brought flags of their countries to the peak.
The climb of Mount Elbrus (located in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR)) was organized by the public movement "Circassian World". "The main idea of the event was to unite Circassians in their return to their historic homeland, as well as to draw the attention of the Circassian and world community to the territorial fragmentation of Circassians," Larissa Khadipash, a Circassian social activist and one of the organizers of the event, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
She hopes that the project will have a positive impact on the development of tourism in the KBR. "Apart from the desire to show people that, despite the territorial boundaries, Circassians have their common future, we, the organizers, are confident that this project will positively influence the development of tourism in the KBR. Therefore, all the climbers hope for a positive response not only from their compatriots, but also from the world community," said the organizer.
