Representative of Azerbaijani Ombudsman reports on satisfactory health state of Zaur Gurbanly at SIZO
The health state of Zaur Gurbanly, an activist of the movement "Nida", is satisfactory, and he receives the necessary medical care. This was reported by a representative of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's office.
"Based on the complaint filed by the mother of Zaur Gurbanly, the activist of the movement 'Nida', we had a conversation with the head of the medical and sanitary unit of the SIZO (pre-trial prison)... The health state of Zaur Gurbanly is consistently satisfactory, and there is no need for another medical examination and treatment," states the report of the press service of the Ombudsman's office.
In her turn, Sakina Gurbanova, the mother of Zaur Gurbanly, states that her son's health is deteriorating and that he still receives no adequate medical care. She believes that the severe consequences are caused by exacerbation of thalassemia.
According to advocate Khalida Bagirova, persons suffering from disease of thalassemia should regularly receive ambulant therapy, hospital or spa treatment. Thus, in the advocate's opinion, the detention of Zaur Gurbanly in custody during the investigation period is unjustified. "Meanwhile, no investigatory actions are carried out against him," Khalida Bagirova has added.
Let us remind you that the human rights organization "Amnesty International" (AI) recognized the arrested activists of the movement "Nida" as "prisoners of conscience". The arrests of the activists of the movement "Nida" were also condemned by the international human rights organization "Human Rights Watch" (HRW).
