In Chechnya, policemen detain young man on suspicion of inciting extremism
In Chechnya, a 19-year-old local resident was detained on suspicion of posting on the Internet the calls for "jihad against infidels." The issue of instituting a criminal case against him for incitement to extremism is under consideration.
On July 23, the young man was detained in the village of Elistanzhi of the Vedeno District during operational activities. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Chechnya.
"During the interrogation, he has confessed that he did post on social networks the calls for extremist activities. Starting from this January, he regularly posted on the Internet the calls for 'a holy war against infidels'," a police officer has reported. According to his information, at present, the detained young man is kept at a temporary detention centre.
Till present, the comments of the detainee or his representatives are unavailable.
