Investigators not rule out that attempt on rabbi in Dagestan has to do with his religious activities
Attempt on the rabbi of the synagogue located in Derbent in Dagestan may be associated with his religious activities. This was reported by the press service of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the incident occurred in the city of Derbent at night on July 25.
According to the investigators' information, at 1:00 a.m., in Pushkin Street, the 40-year-old rabbi Isakov left a car and went to his house, when an unidentified person opened fire on him. The rabbi was hospitalized in serious condition with perforating wound to the central hospital of Derbent.
Regardless of the motivation of the attacker, who wounded the rabbi in Derbent, his criminal act is directed against all religious people who want peaceful life in Dagestan. This was stated by Boruch Gorin, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported on the attempts on religious leaders in Dagestan. So, at night on June 23, in the village of Kakhabroso of the Untsukul District of Dagestan, an imam was attacked. On March 3, in the village of Gubden of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, Magomed Biyarslanov, a madrasa teacher, was shot dead in his house.
