Search for natives of Uzbekistan who disappeared in Dagestan unsuccessful so far

Employees of the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) are searching two brothers-natives of Uzbekistan Alisher and Zhasurbek Fazilov, whose disappearance was reported by their relatives, said Fatina Ubaidatova, the spokesperson of the MIA. So far, their whereabouts are unknown.

"The application of Fazilovs' relatives has been received; it was duly registered; now, agents are taking steps," said Fatina Ubaidatova, the acting head of the Information and PR Division of the MIA of Dagestan.

Alisher and Zhasurbek Fazilov disappeared on July 13; on the following day their relatives wrote their disappearance application. In Uzbekistan, a criminal case was opened against Alisher for attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and participation in the activities of extremist organizations. He petitioned to the Federal Migration Service (FMS) of the Russian Federation about a refugee status.

"In Uzbekistan, someone had testified against him, but he did nothing, except for administering namaz. They wrote that he had distributed some materials, selling some religious CDs, I don't know. But he wasn't engaged," a relative of the missing brothers told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, Alisher had never been a member of any organizations; he was not involved in religious activities and did not participate in any actions.

The officials of the Russian FMS for Dagestan have refused to comment on Fazilov brothers' case.
