Residents of Rostov dormitory "Parus": attackers used tear gas against us
Today, the Proletarsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don has questioned three victims at the trial on the case against Yuri Balabanov, the owner of the dormitory "Parus". Residents of the dormitory stated that during an attempt to capture the building, attackers beaten them and used tear gas.
Let us remind you that on March 26, unidentified persons broke into the dormitory "Parus" in Rostov-on-Don, where about 100 persons are accommodated. The attackers sprayed tear gas and beat several residents of the dormitory. The criminal case was instituted against Yuri Balabanov, the owner of the building, on charge of arbitrariness (Article 330 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Genrikh Tamberg, an advocate representing the interest of the residents of the dormitory "Parus", has explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that a claim on behalf of the residents was filed for compensation for moral and material damages; however, the court dismissed the claim.
We should add that earlier, the dormitory was owned by the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Azov-Don Steamship Company". In December 2012, the building was sold to an individual entrepreneur, and in January 2013, the building was purchased by Yuri Balabanov, who decided to make major repairs and did not rule out the possibility of eviction of the residents. The residents of the dormitory demand transferring the building to the municipal property.
