Advocate of Khalimat Rasulova, detained in Moscow, hopes to mitigate the charges presented to her
Musa Pliev, a lawyer from the Moscow Bar, the defender of Khalimat Rasulova, a native of Dagestan, who was detained on suspicion of attempting a policeman's life, states that the allegation against his client was incorrectly qualified. He sees a large number of violations in the police operation aimed at decriminalization of Moscow marketplaces; however, the police believe the actions of policemen were reasonable and legitimate.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 27, in the Matveevsky Marketplace in Moscow, the police tried to detain Magomed Magomedov, a native of Dagestan, suspected of raping a schoolgirl. At that moment, Magomedov's relatives – Magomed Rasulov and Khalimat Rasulova – attacked a policeman and inflicting him a serious injury; this is the version of the police.
After the incident in the Matveevsky Marketplace, Moscow policemen took measures aimed to decriminalize marketplaces. Within two days, more than a thousand people were detained in the marketplaces of Russian capital, said the press service of the Moscow police. Later, almost all the detained traders were released.
Earlier, human rights defenders had stated gross violations in the course of the above operation. In particular, the passport control was carried out by policemen instead of employees of the Federal Migration Service (FMS).
As stated on July 31 by Vladimir Kolokoltsev, the Russian Interior Minister, the fight against crime in trading at marketplaces would be conducted continuously. According to his story, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has set up a special unit to combat ethnic crimes.
