In Georgia, suspect of pawnshop robbery released on bail

Tsotne Mamulashvili, a painter and a former expert of the NATO Information Centre, involved in the case of the pawnshop robbery in Tbilisi, has been released by the court on bail of 15,000 laris (about 9000 US dollars) for his health reasons. This was reported by the lawyer David Dadiani.

"Levan Djavakhadze, Mamulashvili's advocate, has presented a conclusion of the medical examination stating that Tsotne suffers from hepatitis C, as well as evidence that his client's freedom restraint measure had been appointed illegally. Therefore, the court held that Tsotne Mamulashvili can be released on bail," said Dadiani, who is representing the interests of the other figurant in the case – Jaba Lomidze.

Tsotne Mamulashvili is accused of involvement in the robbery of a pawnshop committed on January 21, 2013, together with Jaba Lomidze, Mamuka Bokashvili and Lasha Djambazishvili. On May 30 the prosecutor's office concluded an agreement with Lasha Djambazishvili, who confessed to the robbery and gave testimonies against other defendants.

Also at today's session, another figurant – Mamuka Bokashvili – has also concluded a procedural agreement with the court. However, according to David Dadiani, it is hard to say whether he will evidence against Jaba Lomidze and Tsotne Mamulashvili.

Tsotne Mamulashvili and Jaba Lomidze are still refusing to admit their guilt. They also state gross violations by the police during detention.

The next court session will be held on September 3.
