North Ossetia hosts international arts symposium "Alanika"
The Seventh International Arts Symposium "Alanika" was launched on August 1 in Vladikavkaz. During the event artistic workers Italy, Turkey, Germany, Israel, Serbia, Croatia, Great Britain, Georgia and Azerbaijan will implemented their projects in the field of contemporary arts.
The topic of the Seventh "Alanika" is formulated as follows" "Meaningful action: How do we live and act in our local social groups? How do we coexist with carriers of other cultural codes? What can our meaningful action be for achieving the universality of being, while retaining our identity?"
The participants of the symposium are free to choose the method and style and answer the above questions by painting, sculpture, installation, performance, photography and video records.
On August 14, a roundtable will be held on "Contemporary arts institutions in the Caucasus". The issues related to the theory and practice of contemporary arts in the Caucasus will be discussed by experts from Turkey, UAE, UK, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and the republics of Northern Caucasus – Dagestan and Chechnya.
Such symposiums like "Alanika", and the arts themselves are bringing people together, said Academician Shalva Bedoev, speaking on behalf of the North-Ossetian artistic community.
According to his story, the mission of turning North Ossetia into one of cultural centres of contemporary arts is very important for the republic.
