Criminal proceedings against publisher of newspaper "Mestnaya" stopped
On August 5, in Sochi, Oleg Rubezhansky, the publisher of the newspaper "Mestnaya" (Local), was handed in the resolution to terminate criminal proceedings against him as a result of the act on amnesty.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 7, Oleg Rubezhansky became a suspect under Article 146 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of copyright and related rights). Oleg Rubezhansky himself associates his prosecution with the critical materials about local and regional authorities published in the newspaper "Mestnaya".
"The investigation lasted for several months and took a lot of my efforts, time and health. When I received the resolution on the termination of the criminal proceedings, I was very happy. And even although the case has been closed not for decriminalizing grounds and because of the act of amnesty, for me, my health and health of my family members are the more important things," Oleg Rubezhansky has stated in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The resolution on economic amnesty adopted by the Russian State Duma came into force on July 4. The amnesty applies to persons sentenced under 27 articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and to persons under investigation or persons whose cases under court's consideration, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
