Explosion in Volgograd is second attempt since 2011 to blow up city police building
The today's explosion committed at the building of the DPS (patrol service of road police) in the Kirov District of Volgograd and an explosive device found in the car park of the DPS battalion in the Voroshilov District of the city represent the second attempt to blow up police buildings in the Volgograd Region.
Today, at 2:30 a.m. Moscow time, an explosive device detonated at the service building of the separate DPS battalion of the Kirov District of Volgograd. And at 4:20 a.m. Moscow time, during inspection of the service parking of the DPS battalion in the Voroshilov District of Volgograd, an officer of duty found one more bomb, which was defused by OMON (riot police) fighters. No one suffered.
Criminal cases were instituted under Article "Illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, its main parts, ammunition, explosive substances and explosive devices," of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Let us remind you that on April 26, 2011, two explosions occurred in Volgograd: one explosive device detonated near the gate of the City Department of GIBDD (road police), and the second explosive device detonated at the gym of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). No one suffered; however, the explosions caused destructions.
