In Chechnya, five local residents sentenced for armed attacks
The Supreme Court of the Chechen Republic found guilty five local residents of banditry and attacks on law enforcers and sentenced them to various terms of imprisonment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 1, the criminal case against Rasul Gapuraev, Albert Shamaev, Magomed Bekaev, Zaurbek Akhigov and Rizvan Ilyasov was directed to the Supreme Court of Chechnya.
According to the investigators' information, in late 2010, Rasul Gapuraev organized a grouping to carry out attacks on law enforcers.
Depending on their roles and degree of involvement in the criminal grouping, the defendants were found guilty of banditry, attempt on a law enforcer, attempted first degree murder, and trafficking of arms and ammunition.
The Court sentenced Rasul Gapuraev and Albert Shamaev to 14 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony, and the other defendants were sentenced to 2-6 years of imprisonment. This was reported by the website of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation on August 8.
