In Armenia, draft law to ban propaganda of homosexualism recalled
On August 8, Vladimir Gasparyan, Chief of Armenian Police, recalled the earlier proposed draft law to ban the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.
On August 7, the Armenian Police proposed amendments to the Law "On Administrative Offences''' adopted on December 6, 1985. The draft amendments suggested introducing penalties of 50-250 minimum wages for the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.
"In the independent Armenia, it is very important to preserve the traditional model of Armenian family, since a family based on traditional moral values is the basis for the preservation and strength of the nation,'' emphasized the message posted on August 7 at the official website of the Armenian Police.
However, later, the draft law was recalled.
Vladimir Gasparyan, Chief of Armenian Police, recalled the draft law "given the shortcomings and deficiencies identified in the course of its discussion, and the fact that at present, the problem is not included in the priorities of the police." This was reported on August 8 by the "News-Armenia" with reference to the press service of the Armenian Police.
