In Moscow SIZO, defendant in case of terror act in "Domodedovo" Airport was beaten, advocate reports
A staff member of the SIZO (pre-trial prison) No. 4 of Moscow has beaten Bashir Khamkhoev, a native of Ingushetia, charged in the case of the terror act committed at the "Domodedovo" Airport. This was reported by Tatiana Okushko, an advocate of Bashir Khamkhoev.
"On August 2, when I visited my client at the SIZO, I found him beaten, and he got his entire face swelled. He told me that he was beaten with legs and fists. I filed a complaint to the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Committee to initiate criminal proceedings against the SIZO staff member who had beaten my client," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Tatiana Okushko, the advocate of the Moscow Regional Advocates' Chamber.
According to the advocate's information, the incident occurred during a morning round. Inspection officers entered the ward and found on the floor a waistcoat, which Bashir Khamkhoev used as a prayer rug. "He asked not to touch it because at present, there is a period of Ramadan and he is praying on it. They began to snatch it, and he did not give it, then the warder began to kick and beat him with legs," Tatiana Okushko has said.
The advocate suspects that Bashir Khamkhoev got a brain concussion, since on the second day after the beating, he continued vomiting.
The advocate has claimed that her client constantly has conflicts with the SIZO personnel on the grounds of his religious belief.
The administration of the SIZO No. 4 of the Medvedkovo District has refused the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent to comment without formal request on the complaint about beating of Bashir Khamkhoev.
