At trial on Anna Politkovskaya's murder, policeman, who followed her, gives testimony

Today, at trial in the case of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta", the Moscow City Court questioned Pavel Korsakov, an operating policeman, in the presence of the jury.

Let us remind you that five persons are accused of the contract killing of Anna Politkovskaya committed on October 7, 2006. The murdered journalist was well-known due to her articles about Chechnya and Northern Caucasus. The defendants are: Chechen businessman Lom-Ali Gaitukaev, who, according to the investigators' version, organized the crime, his three nephews Rustam, Ibragim and Djabrail Makhmudov, and Sergey Khadjikurbanov, a former policeman. The defendants pleaded not guilty.

According to the investigators' version, Pavel Korsakov followed Anna Politkovskaya, the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta". The questioning was carried out behind closed doors and lasted for more than an hour, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

An advocate of the defendants said that at the trial, Pavel Korsakov acknowledged that he and his colleagues followed Anna Politkovskaya. Besides, the witness said that he used to get money for that kind of job. However, according to his story, when following Anna Politkovskaya, he got no money for that, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.

The next court session is scheduled for August 13.

Let us remind you that earlier, the victims and their representatives have stated that they refuse to participate in the court hearing, since on July 23, the court selected a jury without their participation.
