Amil Sarkarov: fate of Tariel Sarkarov, detained in Azerbaijan, remains unknown
The meeting of relatives of Tariel Sarkarov, a Russian citizen, who was detained in the village of Kamervan of the Gabala District of Azerbaijan, with staff members of the Consulate of the Russian Federation was scheduled for August 13 and was to be held in Baku. However, it was not held. There is no information about the detainee' fate. This was reported by a representative of the Federal Lezgin National and Cultural Autonomy (FLNCA).
Tariel Sarkarov is one of the founders of the Moscow Regional Lezgin National and Cultural Autonomy. On August 9, he was detained in the village of Kamervan of the Gabala District of Azerbaijan, where he came with his mother to visit his father's grave on the anniversary of his death. It was expected that on August 13, in Azerbaijan, the court will choose the pre-trial restriction measure to him.
According to the information of Amil Sarkarov, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the FLNCA, on August 13, the mother of Tariel Sarkarov was to meet a representative of the Russian Consulate in Azerbaijan; however, the meeting did not take place.
Let us remind you that on August 11, the FLNCA issued a statement reporting that in Azerbaijan, during a week, three relatives of the leaders of the FLNCA were arrested. Apart from Tariel Sarkarov, Djavid Babaev, a Russian citizen, and Eldar Mamedov, an Azerbaijani citizen, were also detained.
On August 12, the representative of the Consulate Office of the Embassy of the Russian Federation reported that on the same day, an advocate hired by Djavid Babaev was allowed to visit his client.
