Novocherkassk: 80 percent of ambulance drivers apply for resignation
Within one day, 51 out of 64 drivers of Novocherkassk ambulances applied for resignation because of low wages and unacceptable working conditions.
They submitted their applications on August 16, and the immediate trigger was the closure of one of the garages.
"During the last two winters, the garage in Mayakovsky Street had no heating at all. We had to warm up with heat guns; there was no place to take shower and have rest; while warming up inside the van was impossible because of reduced fuel consumption rates. Then, even that building, which we used as a repair base, was taken away, saying that it would be a garage for the cars of the administration," the edition named "Notebook. Rostov-on-Don" quotes one of the ambulance drivers.
The edition "161.ru" adds that the drivers complained about low wages, which makes, after payment of taxes, some 9-12,000 roubles.
Mr Syomin, the chief physician of the first aid service, said that similar problems exist not only in Novocherkassk, but elsewhere in the region.
He added that the project documentation for repairing the building in Mayakovsky Street is already being developed; however, he could not specify when the repair will start, the Rostov News Agency reports.
