In Sochi, tenants of house in Sevastopol Street demand not to fence off their house with "Olympic" banner
On August 18, about 20 tenants of a two-storey building No. 4 in Sevastopol Street held a rally, which resulted in filing a complaint to the City Mayoralty. According to the tenants' story, the house is dilapidated and represents a danger to its tenants; however, the City Mayoralty officials do not make a decision about their resettlement. Meanwhile, officials are going to cover the dilapidated building with a huge banner for the period of the Olympic Games.
The building No. 4 in Sevastopol Street was transferred to the balance of the operating organization in a very rundown and dangerous condition. This was confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by V. Temezov, Director of the District Operation Division No. 3.
"The building cannot be repaired, so, the tenants are to be resettled from the building. To maintain the building does not make sense, so we gave up that building," he has explained.
However, the Mayoralty does not fulfil its responsibilities to establish interdepartmental commissions and recognition of buildings as dilapidated. This was stated by Igor Platonov, Chairman of the territorial public self-administration (TPS) "Zavokzalny".
"The administration is obliged to move people from the dangerous buildings threatening to collapse and not to hide them under banners with painted comfortable buildings," Igor Platonov has stated.
