Georgia: two hunger-strikers in Geguti Prison stitch their mouths
Two inmates serving their terms in Geguti Prison, who went on hunger strike, have sewn up their mouths, the spokesman of the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia said today.
Let us remind you that on August 15 six prisoners serving their sentences in Prison No. 14, located in the city of Geguti, Tsqaltubo District of Georgia, went on hunger strike. The above spokesman has assured that the prisoners are under 24-hour supervision of physicians.
According to his story, two of the hunger-strikers, who demand a meeting with Eka Beseliya, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, and Ucha Nanuashvili, the Ombudsman of Georgia, have sewn up their mouths.
"The protesters find their sentences unfair and demand revision of their cases. Moreover, they express dissatisfaction with the work of the Parole Commission and demand to meet Ms Beseliya and Mr Nanuashvili," the IA "News-Georgia" quotes today the Ministry's spokesman.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July hunger strikes demanding revision of cases were held by prisoners of Rustavi Prison No. 17, Women's Prison No. 5 of Rustavi and Ksani Prison No. 15.
