At election of Dagestani leader, Ramazan Abdulatipov will have no real rivals, experts assert
At the upcoming election of the leader of Dagestan to be held on September 8, the opponents of Ramazan Abdulatipov, Acting President of Dagestan, have no chance for victory. This was stated by local experts, who called the upcoming election "a competition without competitors."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin nominated Ramazan Abdulatipov, Malik Bagliev, and Ummupazil Omarova for the empowerment by the Parliament of Dagestan to occupy the position of the leader of the republic.
"Against the backdrop of Ramazan Gadjimuradovich, his opponents have no chances. Actually, this situation can be described as 'a competition without competitors', since the popularity of Ramazan Abdulatipov is extremely high," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Ruslan Gereev, Director of the Centre for Islamic Studies of Northern Caucasus.
According to the opinion of Nariman Gadjiev, the blogger and the former Minister of Information Policy and Mass Communications of the Republic of Dagestan, Ummupazil Omarova and Malik Bagliev have no political ambitions to occupy the position of the leader of Dagestan.
"Probably, there was a kind of preliminary agreement with them. Everyone already knew roles in advance," Nariman Gadjiev has expressed his opinion.
The issue on the election of the leader of Dagestan is to be considered at an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Dagestan to be held on September 8.
