Rostov-on-Don: court summons Ramzan Kadyrov as witness in case on journalist's claim against Chechen Ombudsman
The Lenin District Court of the Rostov Region has invited Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, as a witness in the case on the claim of journalist Evgeny Mikhailov on protection of honour and dignity against Nurdi Nukhazhiev, Ombudsman of the Chechen Republic.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the journalist's claims is connected with the criticism of his article "Caucasian Arithmetic: SFD (Southern Federal District) + NCFD (North-Caucasian Federal District) = Plenipotentiary Envoy Ramzan Kadyrov?" expressed by the Chechen Ombudsman. Nurdi Nukhazhiev criticized the journalist's material in his article "Coffee Grouts of 'Novaya Gazeta'". Evgeny Mikhailov treated the allegations expressed in the article of Nurdi Nukhazhiev as statements containing extremist incitement of ethnic hatred and insulting and degrading honour and dignity of a person. On July 30, the preliminary court session on the case was held.
According to the story of advocate of Evgeny Mikhailov, the leader of the public movement "For Honour and Dignity", it was planned to involve Ramzan Kadyrov, the leader of Chechnya, as a defendant in the case. The defence referred to one of the interview given by the leader of Chechnya, in which he allegedly said that when he was 16 years old, he killed a Russian for the first time.
However, during the court session held on August 19, the Lenin District Court of Rostov-on-Don invited Ramzan Kadyrov as a third party, the "Novaya Gazeta" reports.
The next court session is scheduled for September 16.
