Five Armenian NGOs included into group to investigate causes of non-combat losses in army

Working group at the Military Prosecutor's Office of Armenia to study effectiveness of investigation into criminal cases instituted on facts of deaths in the army began accepting complaints of relatives of dead soldiers.

Applications for inclusion in the working group were filed by five public organizations the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly, the volunteer patriotic union "Armenian Legion", the public organization "Association of Young Lawyers of Armenia", the "Journalists for Human Rights", and the "Protection of Rights without Borders". This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by a representative of the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia.

At the meeting of the working group, it was decided that till August 26, relatives of dead soldiers can file complaints to any of those five organizations provided that final judgments in the criminal cases were pronounced after January 1, 2011, and that they were not challenged at the courts.

Let us remind you that, according to the information of the Armenian human rights organizations, since the beginning of 2013, 17 soldiers deceased, and only three of them were killed in combats.
