Four policemen injured in riots near Makhachkala
Today, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported that during the public disorders in the Kumtorkalin District of the republic, four policemen suffered; one of them was hospitalized.
Let us remind you that on August 21 in the settlement of Karaman, migrants of the Kumyk nationality, dissatisfied with the distribution of land plots, held a rally.
According to the MIA, the riots were about 700 people strong, namely, residents of the township Tarki in Makhachkala and of the settlement Novostroy, Kumtorkalin District, "who disputed about the ownership of the above land area."
"At 4:15 p.m., two groups of people began throwing stones and bottles at each other. Policemen stopped the fight, but four of them were injured; and one with a head injury was taken to the medical unit," the MIA has reported.
Because of the riots, traffic was restricted in a section of the federal highway; and in total 630 policemen took part in restoring the public order.
The protesters were addressed by Vasily Salyutin, the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan and other senior officials of the MIA and the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
Thereafter, on August 21 at 11:00 p.m. the crowd dispersed, and the traffic was reopened, says the official website of the MIA of Dagestan.
