Police reports stabilization in Karaman
The situation in the countryside Karaman (Black Stones) in the Kumtorkalin District of Dagestan has stabilized; and the today's night and morning passed without incidents, said the local police.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 21 residents of Tarkin and Lak villages, unsatisfied with allocation of land plots, came to Karaman and started public disorders there. According to the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the riots involved about 700 people and injuring four policemen.
After the riots, the Lak and Tarkin villagers agreed to introduce moratorium on construction of houses in Karaman until the election of the head of Dagestan, Muslim Gasan-Guseinov, the spokesman of Lak migrants, said on August 22. His counterpart Magomed-Amin Magomedov, who is representing the Tarkins, said, in his turn, that the issue of moratorium will first be discussed at the congress of the Tarkin people on August 25.
"The officials Ramazan Djafarov, Arthur Israpilov and others promised us that before September 25 the governmental commission would come to a decision on Karaman land plots. At the congress, we plan to announce it to people and, perhaps, elect our delegates-Tarkins to the commission," said Magomedov.
