On August 23, the lawyer of the Dagestani weekly "Chernovik" lodged his statement to the local FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan on the fact of a hacker attack, undertaken since August 22 against the paper's website, Magomed Magomedov, a journalist of the edition, has reported.
"On Tuesday, at about 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the server that hosts our website was attacked by hackers; as a result, the readers of the electronic version can't get access to it for two days," said the source.
He added that the website of the "Chernovik" will be restored in the coming days.
Magomedov also made public the edition's official position on what could cause the attack: "The reason could be in the online voting for potential candidates to the Mayor of Makhachkala held by the paper."
According to his story, the paper's lawyer has asked the local FSB and MIA to open a criminal case on the fact of unauthorised access to the computers of the edition.
