Trial on Politkovskaya's murder postponed till September 2
The Moscow City Court has rescheduled the next session on the murder case of the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya for September 2, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has reported. The reason for postponement was the sickness of the defendant Djabrail Makhmudov, who is still at Botkin Hospital after his injury.
Let us remind you that on August 19 the court session was delayed till August 26, since Murad Musaev, the advocate of Djabrail Makhmudov, a native of Chechnya, who was under home arrest, reported that on August 14 an attempt on the life of his client was committed. Makhmudov was operated on; and doctors found his condition satisfactory. Hospital doctors said the supposed date of Makhmudov's discharge from hospital is August 30.
Apart from Djabrail Makhmudov, another defendant in the case – Rustam Makhmudov is also sick and treated at the SIZO, the RAPSI reports.
Let us note here that on August 15, at the court session, the prosecutor's office petitioned for isolating the case of Djabrail Makhmudov into a separate proceeding; the decision on this motion has not been made yet. Makhmudov's advocate is against it, since, in his opinion, it can affect the objectivity of consideration.
