Dagestan: exhibition of Muslim relics was visited by over 5000 prior to official opening

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Dagestan that on August 26, one day before the official opening, the exhibition of relics of Prophet Mohammed was visited by more than five thousand people.

According to Magomedrasul Omarov, the press secretary of the SAM of Dagestan, the exhibition will last till September 2.

"The 26 relics are on display in the Ali Aliev Sports Palace; they include, for example, the hair of the Prophet, a trace of his feet, a vessel that he used to drink from and his gown. Additional relics are the items of his descendants and companions. We assume that quite a huge number of people – up to three million – will come to see the relics till September 2," said Omarov.

He noted that the exhibition is open to everyone and is working around the clock and added that the value of the relics for Muslims is in the fact that they bring mercy and grace.

A source from the SAM told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on August 26 the exhibition of relics was visited by Dagestani officials led by the Acting President of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov and businessman Suleiman Kerimov, who had rendered financial support to the project.

Let us note here that the above 26 relics of Prophet Mohammed are permanently kept in Abu Dhabi at the head of the Khazraj clan – Sheikh Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Khazraj; they were brought to Dagestan on the initiative of the local SAM.
