Attempts to put pressure on suspect of killing Dagestani businessman stopped, advocate asserts
The pressure on Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, a resident of Dagestan, suspected of the murder of businessman Sergey Saiputdinov, was stopped. The defence has no problems with access to the SIZO (pre-trial prison), where Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov is kept. This was stated by his advocate Elvira Aidinova.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, on June 5, in Makhachkala, Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, a resident of Dagestan, was detained on suspicion of the murder of businessman Sergey Saiputdinov. On June 8, he was transferred to the SIZO of Cherkessk. Elvira Aidinova, the advocate of Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov, claimed that her client was subjected to pressure to waive the defence. Relatives of Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov claimed that investigators subjected him to torture with electric current and violence to force him to incriminate himself.
At present, Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov is kept at the SIZO No. 1 of Stavropol.
Earlier, the Central Investigating Department (CID) of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) dismissed the complaint filed by Elvira Aidinova who claimed that the investigator hampered her visits to Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov. The CID of the ICRF for the NCFD reported that no unlawful actions had been deleted.
Elvira Aidinova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the reason for filing the complaint was the fact that the procedural actions with Abdul-Muslim Suleimanov were performed without granting access to the defence. The advocate also complained about pressure put upon her client by the investigators.
Meanwhile, Ruslan Kubanov, the head of the special unit of the SIZO No. 1 of Cherkessk did not confirm the information about unlawful actions of their personnel.
