Azerbaijani CEC approves presidential candidate Djamil Gasanli, representative of NCDF
Today, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has approved the presidential candidate Djamil Gasanli, a representative of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF), Professor of the Baku State University.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the voting in the presidential election in Azerbaijan is scheduled for October 9. On August 23, Djamil Gasanli, Professor of the Baku State University, was elected a reserve single candidate for the presidency of the National Council of Democratic Forces.
On August 30, the resolution of the CEC is to be published in the official press and to enter into force. After that, the CEC will issue signature sheets to collect 40,000 signatures required for registration of Djamil Gasanli. The deadline for submission of signature sheets is 6:00 p.m. on September 9.
Let us remind you that on August 27, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan refused to approve documents submitted by Rustam Ibragimbekov as a candidate from the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) to run for presidency. According to the information of the CEC, the refusal was motivated by the fact that along with the citizenship of Azerbaijan, Rustam Ibragimbekov has the citizenship of the Russian Federation and commitment to the Russian Federation. Rustam Ibragimbekov filed an appealed.
Following the meeting of the Central Election Commission held on August 20, the total number of approved candidates reached 14 persons.
