Akhmed Yarlykapov: Caucasian hospitality school should not operate on commercial basis
Caucasian hospitality and pay for it mutually exclude each other. This is stated by Akhmed Yarlykapov, Senior Research Officer of the Centre of Ethnic and Political Research Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), when he commented on the project to create school of Caucasian hospitality voiced at the forum "Mashuk-2013".
Let us remind you that the youth forum of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) "Mashuk-2013" was held on August 14-28. On August 27, the talk show "One Country for All People" was held, in which the participants of the forum proposed to create at the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Resorts of Northern Caucasus" (OJSC "RNC") a youth movement to assist in training local residents to develop the tourism industry.
According to the opinion of Akhmed Yarlykapov, Senior Research Officer of the Centre of Ethnic and Political Research Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), the services rendered by the OJSC "RNC" should not be considered as the "Caucasian hospitality".
"In Caucasus, a hospitable host never takes money. And the money invested in the resorts should be paid off. At the resorts, people pay money, since they assume that they will be rendered good service for their money," Akhmed Yarlykapov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Meanwhile, he does not rule out the possibility that during the implementation of the project, the OJSC "RNC" can use some elements of the Caucasian hospitality, "seasoned with a fair volume of ethnographic elements."
