In North Ossetia, police switchover to enhanced mode of service

In the period from August 30 to September 6, the republic's police units will work in the enhanced regime of service, due to the start of the school year and the mourning events relating to the ninth anniversary of the terror attack in Beslan. The corresponding order was signed on August 29 by Arthur Akhmetkhanov, the head of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

His deputy Kazbek Bekmurzov has added that the public order will be protected by about two thousand policemen. They will pay special attention to maintenance of public order and security during the Day of Knowledge held at educational institutions of the republic.

It should be noted here that this year's celebrations to mark the start of the school year will be held in 205 educational institutions of the republic. In total, over 80,000 pupils will go to school, including over 8000 first-graders.

According to statistics of the MIA, during the three summer months of 2013, as compared to the same period of last year, they saw a decrease of the crimes and offenses committed by juveniles by 28.6% and 26.5% accordingly.

As previously reported, North Ossetia is ready for the mourning events on the ninth anniversary of the terror attack in Beslan.
