Azerbaijani soldier captured in Armenia sent to third country

Firuz Faradjev, an Azerbaijani soldier, who was held captive in Armenia, was brought to a third country. This was reported on August 30 by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the version of the Armenian side, in the morning of July 26, 2012, Firuz Mirza oglu Faradjev, born in 1992, crossed the border and voluntarily surrendered to the Armenian side. According to the version of the Azerbaijani side, the soldier lost his way in the Tovuz District near the contact line.

On August 26, staff members of the ICRC visited Firuz Faradjev. During their visit, they gave the soldier letters from his family members, and he wrote back a letter for his family members. This was reported by Lorenzo Caraffi, the head of the Yerevan delegation of the ICRC.

"In a private conversation, we have discussed the possibility of his repatriation to a third country," Lorenzo Caraffi has said.

He has emphasized that data are of personal nature, and, therefore, the discussion is confidential, the "APA" reports.

On August 30, the Armenian authorities informed the ICRC that the Azerbaijani prisoner of war was released, and he left Armenia and departed to a third country under the auspices of another international organization, the "Trend" reports.
